If you must have a collar, please get a safety or "breakaway" type collar. And make sure that the collar is not to tight and not to loose either.
To properly fit your pet's collar, use a piece of string to measure your animal's neck. Add two inches and that is the size collar you need. Make sure you can place one or two fingers under the collar comfortably.
